Odette created Matches That Matter, a membership-based personal matchmaking service that addressed the unique dating dilemmas faced by singles over the age of 40 through an innovative model that also gave back to the community.
The service gave participants the opportunity to join a small group of 6 men and 6 women with similar interests and age preferences in relaxed, comfortable environments.
Matches That Matter allowed busy professionals to connect with people in real-life, relaxed settings and avoid the time-wasting, unnatural approach offered by online dating.
THE MATCHES THAT MATTER MODEL
A group would meet 3 times over 3 weeks (called a Flight) participating in community and service activities with local non-profit organizations. Each flight gave back more than 100 volunteer hours to participating organizations.
Participants were 40 or over, and had the time, energy, and desire to meet people with similar interests. It was an affordable, comfortable, efficient, safe way to meet.
AN APPROACH BASED IN THE FOLLOWING BELIEFS:
- Isolation is a social, not individual problem.
- There was a better way to find and build relationships than speed dating, the local bar or the online options.
- Meeting others should not be hard; it should be easy, fun, comfortable, feel natural and safe.
- Over 40 singles need a reasonable, dignified and effective way to meet a romantic partner.
